DEVOTION OF THE DAY (015) A LITTLE MORE SHINE
Philippians 1:6 “.being confident of this, that he who began a good work will carry it on to competition until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Reflection: Yesterday, I watch a machinist cut steel off the side of what is to become a cannon barrel. I saw a dark, rough, carbine-charred tube of steel take on a bright, shiny, smooth appearance that looked more and more like what I am confident will be a complete cannon. It was merely a few moments in the midst of hundreds and hundreds hours of production to create a barrel. Raw steel, 2,000 degrees, a rotary-forge (aka violent pounding), heat treat process, cutting, boring, bending, drilling, chroming, polishing, and painting before a barrel is complete. God is doing the same in your life. Hardship, stress, joy, worship, forgiveness, prayer, grief, pain, fellowship, loneliness, anger, blessing, compassion, giving, and more and more over the course of your life. Your life will be complete in Christ Jesus. God is doing that work for a real purpose-to make you in the likeness of Christ and for his glory. Today, is just a moment in the process. By the end of this day, you will have a little less carbine-char and a little more shine. God is doing his work in you.
Application: Keep your eyes on Jesus and your heart open to his work in you. What is that work he is doing today? Ask him to show you-he will.

Cheryl is home. She said the surgery went well. In fact it was not as bad as she thought it would be. Must have been all those prayers the Lord heard on her behalf!! There is power in prayer!!
